the process of becoming a mother; those physical, psychological and emotional changes you go through when you become a mother.

Matrescence is a body of work that is exploring the different experiences women have when they become a mum. Shot in places that feel most comfortable or means something to that person deepening the storytelling and emotion within the photographs. Each mum was asked how motherhood has changed them. There is this idea women become someone different, and I am inspired to challenge stereotypes of “the perfect mother” and rather celebrate the raw, lived experiences. My photographs offer an honest and personal celebration of motherhood.
