Slipping through my fingers
This project is an intimate look into the relationships between me and my mum. She was diagnosed with terminal blood cancer in my first year of university and I wanted to explore how our lives have changed since this. While we have talked about her cancer, I think this collaboration between us both have helped us understand each other more. Even though the subject is personal I try to talk about a universal experience about love, family, illness and fear of the unknown.
Humans have had to face death since the beginning, but our experience of the process has changed. People did not fear death as much as they do now as the process can be slower. I never liked talking about death but now it is a common topic in my life as it something I can’t change, My project includes achieve photos and written text I have wrote over the three years since the diagnosis. The title slipping through my fingers represent the passing of time and trying to value the time left however long that may be.
